Betty Jackson has been one of Britain’s most respected fashion designers for almost four decades. In 1971 Jackson became a design assistant for Wendy Dagworthy, moving a few years later to the fashion collective Quorum. In 1981 she opened her company Betty Jackson Ltd. - four years later Jackson was awarded the title of British Designer of the Year. Priding understated glamour over frivolous fashion trends, Jackson’s sophisticated designs take fabric as their starting point. Jackon’s signature prints, often derived from fine art, and her tendency to play with proportions earned her great popularity during the 1980s. While the brand somewhat fell off the fashion radar during the 1990s, Jackson continues to design timeless collections and was awarded a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2007.
